My oil paintings are concerned with relationships of form and colour through semi-abstract still-lives, figure paintings and landscapes.

Through surface texture, rhythms of pattern and shape, distorted perspective, and a sense of shallow space, the flatness of the picture plain and the physicality of paint on canvas or wood are emphasised.

Literal representation is abandoned and every-day subject matter transformed. 

I aim for rigorous, pared down compositions and bold colour harmonies.
